FAQ

What is SZconsult?

SZconsult is an online community of continuing medical education and consultation for licensed
medical professionals who work with clients affected by schizophrenia-spectrum disorders.

SZconsult is offered as a public service by the Best Practices in Schizophrenia Treatment (BeST)
Center at Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). SZconsult is generously supported by Peg’s¬†Foundation. SZconsult has no ties to any industry or commercial interests.

SZconsult is based on the University of New Mexico’s Project ECHO, which was designed to provide
clinicians with expert consultation, to help them stay current with the latest knowledge, to foster
community among medical professionals, and to promote joy in the work of medicine.

How it works

The SZconsult clinic will meet for an hour each Tuesday at noon.
Sessions will be divided into case presentation/discussion time and didactic time.
Case presenters will receive feedback and written recommendations specific to their consultation
requests.
Attendees will receive one hour of CME credit for each session attended.

Why SZconsult?

SZconsult exists to help psychiatric medical professionals achieve the best possible outcomes for
their patients with schizophrenia-spectrum disorders.

Treating schizophrenia-spectrum disorders is easy and rewarding – when the first-line treatments
work as they’re supposed to.
Problem is: many of our patients don’t achieve the results we and they desire.

What to do next is not always clear.
We are happy to help find the next steps.

Our goal is to help medical professionals by giving them the knowledge and support to achieve
the best results with the fewest medications.
